Hurricane Sandy

It was quite something to see a place you’ve known all your life get completely destroyed over night. People’s homes and memories washed away in a freak storm just before the holiday season. The streets littered with cardboard and seaweed, stores flooded with water, I’m pleasantly surprised the damage isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. As the stragglers struggled to survive on the island, the homeowners have no clue what destruction awaits them. Each car that arrives are more memories that have been swept away. In times like these, money doesn’t seem as important anymore. I remember first showing up to our house not knowing what could have happened to it. A little water damage here and there, but nothing compared to the scare of finding a strange man sleeping in your brother’s bed.
